When it comes to running a small business it is vital that you have an effective marketing plan on social media. Did you know that over 60% of the world’s population is on social media which is a hell of a lot of people if you ask me? If you really want to grow your business and attract the right customers then you need a full proof social media marketing plan that works for your business.

In this article I’ll be giving you some tips I have used and others have used to be more effective online. Some of these you can implement in your business today and grow online as the days come. After all if you’re not on social media you’re missing out on a slice of the pie. Let’s get started and grow your business.

Content, content, content

Being on social media isn’t enough to engage with your target audience. You have to have shareable content in order to grow your social media presence and really attract the visitors. Many people think when it comes to writing shareable content that attracts people eyeballs, you have to write tons of content weekly. That’s not the case. You have to write relevant content what is going to grow your business. At the end of the day that’s the main goal which is growing your business.

What I like to do is what I am doing now which is writing blog posts on your site. Once that’s set up then its time to get on your social media accounts and get the blog post out to as many people as possible. Content always works a lot better when you’re linking to your original site because as well as building your social media following you’re building traffic to your site which is the end goal for many businesses. Let’s move on to the next topic.

Link your social media accounts together.

I know this may seem like one of those things what makes you think “Ben, How does this grow your social media accounts” Let me tell you this is one of the most overlooked methods but really it does help a bunch.

Social media sites like Instagram and twitter can link together meaning every time you post a photo on Instagram you’ll send out a nice tweet with a link to your Instagram post. This is so effective in growing your social media presence because it gets all your followers linking to all your accounts. The more eyes you have on your content the more people sharing to potential clients or customers.

Make your profile reflect your brand.

Filling out your profile on all your social media accounts is vital if you want to get the most out of social media sites like Facebook and twitter. In order to have an effective social media account you need to make it reflect your brands personality. If you take a look at some of the big brands such as Amazon and Tesco’s you will see they offer all the info regarding their brand as well as some humour to get you engaged in their account. Trust me this works for all social media accounts. The best past is all your social media accounts can be found on the search engine so make sure it is filled out correctly to maximize search results to your profile. So go to your social media account and fill out all the required info. It will help you a lot.

Engage with your customers through your profile.

You’ve seen the big brands doing it so there is no reason why you can’t implement this in your business today. You must engage with your customers to ensure growth on social media. You can do this by replying to comments, sharing replies with people and helping people out with enquiries.

Some companies use social media s a way to deal with customer complaints and enquiries on their products. This becomes really effective because if you want a fast response from someone then social media takes away the stress of having to call them up. Your customers will love this if you implement this into your business today.

If it’s not working cut it lose.

Countless times I have had clients come to me and ask why there social media account isn’t getting the results they expect. When I check it out it turns out there customers don’t use that site. If you’re selling fashion items then its Pinterest and Facebook. If you’re selling services then its twitter and Facebook. You have to be where your customers are otherwise there is no point being there at all.

What you should do is have a look at your ideal customers and if you think they are using that social media site then get yourself on there. There is no point being on Instagram if your target audience is on twitter.

With everyone on social media its hard to ignore the impact it could have on your business if you’re not getting this right.
